How to quickly resolve ultra-low temperature freezer malfunctions

Apr 07,2026

Many materials in laboratories need to be preserved at low temperatures, so ultra-low temperature freezers are widely used in various laboratories. Commonly available freezers have temperatures of -40℃, -60℃, -86℃, -120℃, and -136℃, and there are also some extremely cold freezers with temperatures below -150℃.

How to quickly resolve laboratory ultra-low temperature refrigerator malfunctions?

1. The main power switch automatically trips after power is connected.

This is generally caused by unstable power. Since the primary compressor starts first after power is connected, an unstable power supply may damage it. To avoid this, it is recommended to install a delayed voltage regulator before use.

2. Insufficient cooling and poor refrigeration effect

First consider whether it is caused by operational errors. For example, is the refrigerator door opened and closed too frequently? Is the back of the refrigerator touching the wall? Are too many items placed inside? If operational causes are ruled out, check for frost on the evaporator surface and for refrigerant leaks.

3. The refrigerator stops working before reaching the set temperature.

This is caused by a damaged thermistor. This problem most likely requires replacing the thermistor. If original parts are unavailable, a new temperature control system needs to be installed.

4. Excessive refrigerator noise

Check if the refrigerator is placed stably and if the base is sturdy. If unstable, adjust the screws to ensure the four corners are firmly supported on the base. Check if any objects are touching the back of the refrigerator.
